NORTHBRIDGE ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX

Amass Architects were engaged to undertake a feasibility study into the potential of old unused nightclub building in Northbridge in Perth’s inner city. The brief was to develop a versatile venue that offers a wide range of spaces for all forms of social activity. Music events, functions, shows to name a few. Fully equipped hospitality spaces would extend the operation from day to late night increasing activation and passive surveillance of the surrounding area.

AMASS investigated how the new entertainment complex could continue to evolve and act as an integral part of the Perth entertainment and cultural identity.

A large singular canopy gesture links the buildings complex program under which, a playground like structure knits together all the different spaces providing views to different levels and the city. It creates intimate spaces and chance encounters.

This proposal accommodates a main venue with a capacity of 500 without extensive alterations to existing building adjacent to the main venue space.
